Teach them early to respect and understand their own culture, so when they are older they can see the parallels to other cultures and understand we are all the same and worthy of respect. Many don't know, but I grew up watching my sister #fancyshawl Dance at #powwows and my mom had booths making Native American jewelry. I never did much…. But just tag along….. Now as I'm older, I finally see the beauty in the people and things that I never really appreciated when I was younger. Also, as I get older, I'm more aware and awake. I choose to not celebrate today. Never really cared for the day anyways honestly. Never wore red white and blue…. Just popped fireworks and that's about it. But in order to keep it positive, I'll just say, I choose not to celebrate today. I remember one year my sister rebelled against Columbus Day at school. Dressing in full Native regalia and moccasins. This happened at Chamblee High near Atlanta. Way back in like 92 I believe. Anyways, she was somewhat of a revolutionary back then and I respect that….. But enjoy this awesome video of an amazing #fancyshawl dancer. Admire the beauty in her regalia…. And the skill of her feet hitting the floor with every beat. ☺️...
