  1. Linda Day says:

I am Cherokee, but never had contact since we were still in hiding because my grandfather was still hiding from the government people, and in college I had no time to go to Cherokee for the Pow Wows, or knew when they were held. I am in South Carolina now and lost contact with many, and my grandfather died when I was 9. He told me that my grandmother was full cherokee, and our family were all part Cherokee, except my mother who was in Pennsylvania and was German. I learned mountain practices of caring for wildlife, and how to handle animals without hurting them. Now I have been cut off and have retired from teaching in Allendale and Denmark. I want to connect with my heritage.

Hi. The “Honor the Ancestors Pow Wow” is the only Pow Wow we have a listing for in South Carolina at the moment. It is still scheduled for October 2020. If they have it, you should go and ask to speak with one of the Elders. They may be able to direct you to places where you can research your ancestors and possibly reconnect with current family. Good Luck.
