Spirit of Indigenous People Festival
Submitted by PowWow Calendar on: May 15, 2017
Join us for a day of health information and resources, gifts, prizes and giveaways on Saturday, June 24, 2017, 8:30-11:30 am at the Seattle Center Mural Amphitheater. This is a celebration of community members and groups who have supported the Seattle Indian Health Board through donations. Individuals and groups walk from Seattle Center to Myrtle Edwards Park at the Seattle waterfront (and return), followed by prizes awarded to the following walker categories:
Largest Walk Team
Most Money Raised by a Team
Most Money Raised by an Individual
Team Banner Contest
Prior to the event, groups and individuals collect donations to support their walk efforts. Money collected is used to directly support Native community social, educational, artistic and health programs and efforts. On the day of the event, walkers and walk teams come to celebrate and make the walk together. For complete information and to download a SpiritWalk brochure, click on the resources on the right of this page. If you have questions, please contact Debbie Nerocker at [email protected] or call the Seattle Indian Health Board at (206) 324-9360.
After the walk, join us for the Spirit of Indigenous People festival from 11:30 am to 5 pm – a celebration of American Indian and Alaska Native culture and tradition. This event will feature Native performances, arts & crafts vendors, lectures and displays, music and food. We are excited to bring the two events under one celebration!
