University of Nevada, Reno Pow Wow

We will have a host of events over the course of three days at the University of Nevada, Reno Powwow. Friday, May 5th at 5:30pm we will recognize and honor our 2016 powwow royalty at our annual pageant and welcome our new 2017 royalty. This event will be held in the Wells Fargo Auditorium in the Knowledge Center on campus. Saturday we will kick-off our powwow with grand entry at 12pm and 7pm respectively. All dancers will receive participation gifts for attending and there will be a variety of specials given by our head staff and outgoing royalty. Gourd Dance, So Ex style, will be from 11:00am to 12:00pm both days. On Sunday, our Native American Student Organization will be offering a pancake breakfast in collaboration with a health and wellness 5k Fun Run and/or Walk. The pancake breakfast ticket is $5.00 or if registering for the 5K at $25.00 participants will receive a breakfast ticket, t-shirt, swag bag, and other goodies and prizes. The pancake breakfast is 7:00am to 11:00am and the 5K is 8:00am to 10:00am. This annual event is held on campus to celebrate our many different indigenous students and their traditions and academic accomplishments. We will recognize our 2017 American Indian/Alaska Native graduates at this event and also our Native alumni. Arts & Crafts vendor space is available for $50.00 per day or $100.00 for both days. Information booths are free and limited space is available. No outside food booths are available for this event. All proceeds will benefit scholarships on campus and the Native American Student Organization for the use of event support, and student activities.
