60th Annual Eastern Shoshone Indian Days and Pow Wow (2019)
June 21, 2019 - June 23, 2019
Fort Washakie, WY
Pow Wow Information
This is Wyoming’s largest powwow and traditional celebration held at the Fort Washakie powwow grounds. All are welcome to enjoy from great food vendors, arts and craft for sale, traditional Indian games, a parade, carnival games, and of course, traditional dancing to the sounds of several drum groups.
Hundreds of dancers come together to compete for large prize monies and the community enjoys Indian tacos, authentic bead work for sale and everyone’s favorite powwow treats and activities. Community members are recognized, families host dances and admission is free for each day.
There’s free parking and dogs must be kept on a leash but are not allowed in the dance arena. Some tribal members have a chosen family camp area so please be respectful and check before picking a spot. All other camping is on a first come, first served basis. Cold water and porta-potties are provided.
We recommend booking hotel reservations ahead of time at the Shoshone Rose Casino and Hotel. During powwow season, nights can be chilly but the day temperatures can reach 90 degrees or more in June. Bring your own lawn chair or blankets. Photography is allowed. Powwow programs will be available.
Vendor opportunities are available to the public. Arts & Crafts Vendor Fee is $200. Food Vendor Fee is $600. Vendors contact Rachel Ynostrosa at 308-438-2762.
For more information, contact Weasel Mann at 307-349-4258 or Wayland Large at 307-349-8031.
