Join The Santa Fe Indigenous Center in celebrating “Indigenous Peoples’ Day” at our 3rd Annual Honoring Native Nations Pow Wow!

On Monday, October 13th, The Santa Fe Indigenous Center invites you to celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day with the 3rd Annual Honoring Native Nations Pow Wow on the Santa Fe Plaza. This special event will hold space for tribal members from all Native Nations across Turtle Island to come together and celebrate Indigenous joy and cultural resilience on the Santa Fe Plaza beginning at 9AM through 4:30PM.

The 3rd Annual Honoring Native Nations Powwow will feature Josiah Enriquez as Head Man Dancer, Peshawn Bread as Head Woman Dancer, Shandien Sonwai LaRance as Honored Dancer, and Glenn Pedro as Honored Gourd Dancer. The Pow Wow will host Red Bear and Southern Slam as featured drum groups, with additional invited drum groups performing throughout the day. Guest drums are encouraged to join! The events during the Pow Wow will be guided by Co-Masters of Ceremonies, James Edwards and Terry Pecos, alongside the Arena Director, Aaron Fry. The day will begin with an Opening Prayer, land acknowledgement, and Pueblo dances. Following that, there will be a Grand Entry as well as a Parade of Nations – bring your tribal flag to carry in the parade!

Around the pow wow arena, enjoy shopping from over 25+ talented Indigenous Artists, and grab a bite to eat from one of the featured food vendors while you enjoy the day.

Dedicated seating will be provided for elderly and individuals with disabilities. Meter parking is free on Indigenous Peoples’ Day, public restrooms will be available on Water Street, and porta potties available on Sheridan Ave.

Non-Native members of the community are welcome and encouraged to respectfully enjoy the Intertribal festivities. Please watch the following “Powwow Etiquette” video to learn what to expect :https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8H__LY77Kow&t=4s.

We are excited to honor the Native Nations across Turtle Island and we hope to see you there!
