Committee: Thunderbird Intertribal Council, Inc
We are a 501 (c) (3) Public Charity which functions in cooperation with Eglin Air Force Base and generous local support to present an annual Native American Powwow as part of the Native American and Alaskan Heritage Month activities during the month of November. The goals of our council are to educate the local community about Native Americans and their role in the past and the present. We promote cultural understanding, encourage participation and good-will between Native and non-Native people.
Schedule of Events
Friday: Children’s Day 9:00am – 2:00pm; Pow wow 7:00pm Grand Entry; Intertribal Dancing into the night
Saturday: Craft Competition 10:00am – 11:00am; Grand Entry & Opening Ceremonies at Noon, followed by Intertribal, Exhibition, Competition Dancing until 5 pm: Night Grand Entry 7:00pm followed by Intertribal, Social, & Exhibitions into the night
Sunday: Church Service: 10:00am-11:00am at the Arena; Grand Entry at Noon, followed by Intertribal Dancing, Dance Exhibitions, Competitions Winners until 4pm
Admission: Pow wow: $5; $3 – Age 12 and younger
