Celebrate Berkeley’s 25th ANNUAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY POWWOW & INDIAN MARKET. Intertribal dancing, contest dancing, round dancing, exhibition dancing. Native American foods, Arts & Crafts and American Indian culture. Free.
This year’s pow wow marks the 25th anniversary of the new holiday. The first Indigenous Peoples Day in Berkeley took place on October 12, 1992, on the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the struggle of the Indigenous People of the Americas to retain their culture and identity under the extremely difficult conditions of European colonization.
Celebrate with us in honor of all our ancestors, the people continuing the spirit today, and future generations.

Haminat (Hello),

On behalf of the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians, I would like to kindly extend an invitation to the 2nd annual Indigenous People’s Day Festival!

The Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians, a tribe of northern Los Angeles County, began the festival in a celebratory response to the City of San Fernando’s official replacement of Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day. Today, we plan the festival in partnership with the City of San Fernando to celebrate the sovereignty, cultures and lives of all indigenous peoples.

The Event will be held on Saturday, October 14th from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm at Recreation Park (208 Park Avenue, San Fernando, CA 91340). The event will host prominent indigenous special guests and performers, traditional songs and dances, storytelling, foods, arts, and crafts, venues, educational booths, and interactive stations.

We are also in the process of accepting vendors for this event. We would be honored to have your business represented at this celebration. You can apply by filling out our vendor package application form. The deadline to submit your application is September 29th, 2017.
