Pow-Wow/NOW-CDC, Inc. is a Native American owned and operated company that has been in business for over 25 years. We sponsor Native American Cultural Exchange programs every year that allow teachers, students and others to interact with our population. We invite you and your school to participate this year. Programs begin at 9:00 A.M. Daily and cease by 2:00 P.M.

Our program dates and location for our Richmond, Va.  2018 Cultural Exchanges are as follows:

  • November 7-8-, 2018 : Richmond, Virginia-The RIR 600 Laburnum Ave.

November 7th is the preferred date

Students and teachers will be exposed to the following at our cultural exchange:

  1. Native American Dancers from various Tribes. Students and teachers will be able to dance with these performers as well as interact with them on a one-on-one basis.
  2. Luis Salinas, Aztec Dancer.
  3. Storytelling 
  4. Face painting (free but donations are accepted).
  5. Bow ‘N’ Arrow Demonstration. Students may try their skills for a small fee.
  6. Food (Navajo tacos, buffalo burgers, fry bread, buffalo stew, Indian corn soup, hot dogs, chips, Pepsi) will be available for $1 – $6. Students may also bring lunch. Please let us know if you and your students will bring lunch or purchase food from our concessionaire.
  7. Native Arts and Craft Demonstrators. Our demonstrators not only make their own crafts, but sell them as well. Vendors and crafts persons sell items such as turquoise jewelry, beadwork, paintings, books, moccasins, dream catchers, rugs, and t-shirts to name a few items.
  8. We provide each participant a very small free sampling of Native American food and drink.

2:00PM-Close of Cultural Exchange Program

Reservations are required. In order to save costs and time, we request that reservations be made via e-mail, if possible. E-mail: [email protected] This is not a web site. If you must call, please call us at (252) 532-0821 (8AM-10PM).

Space is limited. To confirm your reservation, we need the following information: your name, school name, school address, school phone number, time that you will attend and the approximate number of students and teachers that will be attending. After you have made your reservation, your school will be sent a confirmation letter. Cost is $10.00 in advance and $12:00 at the door. Teachers/chaperones are free (one free teacher/chaperone for every eight students). Teachers and chaperones must stay with students at all times. Cash, checks, money orders and credit cards are accepted (credit cards are not accepted on the day of the event).

If there are additional objectives that your school must meet, please submit suggestions and requests when you make your reservation. We will make every effort to answer all questions. Special rates to low-income schools. We look forward to seeing all of you in November, and we thank all of you for your support!


Friday, Saturday, and Sunday we’ll have Thousands in prize money for the Contest Pow Wow.

Categories are as follows:  Drum contest, Dance categories (traditional, fancy, jingle, grass).  All Juniors and Boys and Girls categories must have at least three people.  If not, they will be moved to the next level.

To save funds, the following tickets may be purchased in advance. Three days are $28.00 for adults and $18. 50 for child ticket. Two day passes are $18.00 adult and 12.50 for child ticket. One day advance passes are $10 per adult and $7 per child.  Tickets can be purchased with a credit card by calling 250-532-0821.  Checks must be made out to Barry Richardson and sent to:  Barry Richardson, PO Box 609, Hollister, NC. Veteran’s tickets are 1/2 price on Sunday the 11th, and must be purchased at the door.
