3 Day Reconciliation Event
Building relationships between Indigenous and Non-Indigenous People
August 27-29, Lake Bonavista Calgary
Imagine two very different communities, one suburban representing dominant culture and one rural representing Indigenous culture, coming together to find commonalities while celebrating their differences. Imagine if these two communities made music together, danced together, played sports together, did business together, ate together, walked together, and learned about one another.
It is through interactions like these that understanding is created. Reconciliation is not just a Federal, Provincial, or Municipal responsibility. It is the responsibility of ALL Canadians. We hope that this grassroots approach of relationship building will move us closer to an inclusive, equitable, and respectful society, in which we embrace diversity and honour Indigenous People. This was the vision that Lake Bonavista Moms had when they planned S.O.A.R.
In the spirit of respect and reconciliation, it is our pleasure to welcome our Tsuut’ina neighbours to Lake Bonavista for a celebration of friendship and culture. From August 27-29, citizens of the Tsuut’ina Nation and other Nations across Treaty Seven Territories are invited to the community to share their culture and history. We look forward to developing new relationships, learning about the history and territory, celebrating the strength, resiliency and beauty of Tsuut’ina people and culture. This event is free to the general public and designed to entertain, inform, engage all audiences while creating a platform for attendees to build relationships.
