Along the beautiful Rideau Canal, located in Smiths Falls Ontario, and in the spirit of resiliency, reconciliation, and education – the Smiths Falls District Collegiate Institute (SFDCI) and the students of the Indigenous Studies Program and our indigenous youth are hosting a Pow wow on Turtle and Duck Island in the Town of Smiths Falls on unceded Algonquin Territory on Saturday June 9th and Sunday June 10th.   SFDCI is within the Upper Canada District School Board spanning the traditional territories of the Algonquin and the Mohawk Nations.  Our goal is to bring people together, to connect the school with our community, to share, teach and celebrate Indigenous culture and traditions.

We hope that this time spent as a community will help grow a better understanding of one another and deepen the bond of friendship between all cultures.

Hi Kathy. I was looking up information about Lansing, MI. In 2017, we received listings for East Lansing, MI, for Michigan State University NAISO’s 34th Annual Pow Wow of Life on April 1, 2017. They updated us with a change to April 15, 2017. That was the only Pow Wow listing we received for Lansing, MI in 2017. In 2018, the Pow Wow was held March 31, 2018. We had it listed. You must have missed it like I did because of the “East” reference. I don’t expect there will be another one in 2018, but if they send us news of another one, we’ll be happy to post it. Thank you for all your comments.

Hi. You can’t find one because we haven’t been sent any information for a Pow Wow in Lansing, Michigan. We are continuously receiving information on Pow Wows across the country and in Canada. We also research to see if we can find Pow Wows and use that information to update our site. Please keep checking back with us.
