Mark your calendars for the next Wassamasaw Powwow set this upcoming October 11th, 2025 at the Old Santee Canal Park.

Event activities include:

Native American Drumming and Dance led by:
Emcee – Kaya Littleturtle
Arena Director – Tony Clark
Host Northern Drum – Warpaint Singers
Host Southern Drum – Bad Boyz
Head Man – Michael Muckelvaney
Head Lady – Sierra Russell

Traditional Artist Demonstrations:
Keith “Little Bear” Brown – Catawba Pottery
Kat Littleturtle – Storytelling
Tammy Leach – Beadwork
Kay Henninger – Regalia Making
Candace Richardson – Cherokee Language

More than 40 vendors offering a wide variety of educational materials, crafts, and food, including Indian Tacos from Lowcountry Frybread!
Children’s area with face painting, sweets, games, and jump castles.

Marsh Tacky horse exhibition by tribal member John Speissegger. He will be educating the public about the breed, showcasing two of his horses, and discussing how these horses tie into tribal history. He will also be providing rides.

Berkeley County Museum Exhibit – “Native American Traditional Artists of SC” which will showcase a variety of crafts from tribes throughout the state.
