The 14th Annual United Houma Nation Celebrating Abilities Pow Wow returns June 27–28, 2026, at the Barry P. Bonvillian Civic Center in Houma, Louisiana. This free, family-friendly event invites visitors to experience Native American culture while celebrating inclusion, community, and the talents of individuals of all abilities.
Hosted by the United Houma Nation’s Vocational Rehabilitation Program, the pow wow highlights over two decades of work supporting individuals with disabilities through cultural engagement and workforce development. The event creates a welcoming space where tradition and accessibility come together.
At the heart of the pow wow are vibrant dance competitions featuring Native American dancers from across the country. Colorful regalia, powerful drum groups, and traditional songs create an unforgettable atmosphere as participants compete in a variety of dance styles.
New this year, a Cultural Preservation Meeting Room and Stage will showcase Houma culture, artistry, and history. Visitors can watch traditional basket making, net making, and carving demonstrations, while also learning about tribal language, foodways, and storytelling from community members.
Guests can also explore vendor booths offering handmade crafts, jewelry, and artwork, along with a variety of food options that blend Native-inspired dishes with local Louisiana flavors.
The pow wow continues to grow as a regional destination, drawing thousands of attendees and contributing to local tourism and economic activity in Terrebonne Parish.
Whether you come for the dancing, cultural experiences, shopping, or food, the United Houma Nation Celebrating Abilities Pow Wow offers a meaningful and memorable Louisiana experience for all.
