MANITO AHBEE FESTIVAL RETURNS TO CANADA LIFE CENTRE IN THE HEART OF TURTLE ISLAND IN 2026
The Manito Ahbee Festival proudly announces the return to Canada Life Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba in Treaty No. 1 Territory, on October 30th, 31st, and November 1st, 2026.
Nations from across Turtle Island (North America) will gather once again at this iconic venue to celebrate one of the continent’s premier showcases of Indigenous arts and culture. Festival highlights include the renowned Manito Ahbee Pow Wow, the return of NextGEN, an Indigenous youth empowerment celebration, and a brand-new Friday night cultural lineup to be announced. With its return, the festival also underscores a commitment to celebrating our culture with pride and care for the city. As a vibrant festival, we are excited to continue our Marketplace and Food Vendors, promoting entrepreneurship and craftsmanship in our territory. Manito Ahbee Festival is proud to continue recognizing our presenting sponsors and collaborators who have supported us throughout the years. Upon our return to our original location, we look forward to building reciprocal partnerships and moving forward together.
“Manito Ahbee Festival spent its first ten years at this location, and our return marks an ongoing commitment to honouring both identity and reclamation. The festival remains grounded in the significance of the sacred site of Manitou Api,” said Lisa Meeches, Executive Director of the Manito Ahbee Festival, referring to the site in Whiteshell Provincial Park, Manitoba “We gather in Winnipeg, the heart of Turtle Island to honour our ancestors’ pilgrimages, to celebrate our resilience, and share the strength and beauty of Indigenous culture with the world. Showcasing Manitoba’s nations and history is vital in this return to Canada Life Centre.”
“True North is excited for the return of Manito Ahbee Festival to downtown Winnipeg, and we are proud to again support this vibrant festival through our Community Use & Access Program at Canada Life Centre. We encourage everyone to take in this cultural celebration,” said Kevin Donnelly, Sr. Vice President, Venues & Entertainment with True North Sports + Entertainment.
Looking ahead, Manito Ahbee Festival continues to invest in youth through the Sacred Hoop, an Indigenous youth production program, training and mentoring the next generation of cultural leaders to ensure the festival’s legacy thrives for years to come.
