The public is invited to attend the Eighth Annual Nulhegan Abenaki Heritage Gathering which will take place on Saturday, August 28th and Sunday, August 29th from 10am to 5pm.
The event will be held at the Mount Norris Scout Reservation, 1 Boy Scout Camp Road, Eden Mills, Vermont 05652, which is off of Route 100, just north of Johnson.
This is a drug and alcohol-free event.
Throughout the weekend there will be singing, drumming, and dancing.
The Negoseban (Nulhegan) Drum will be there, with additional drums to be announced.
On Saturday, there will also be traditional games for adults and children and visitors will be encouraged join in.
Members of the Vermont Abenaki Artists Association and other Native People will be selling traditional and contemporary art throughout the weekend, with some demonstrating crafts. “Members of the Nulhegan Tribe are proud of their heritage and look forward to sharing this weekend with the public,” stated Chief Don. “This is not a powwow. It is a gathering of our people in the most traditional sense,” he said.

The Nulhegan Band of the Coosuk – Abenaki Nation is a Vermont-recognized tribe. Tribal Headquarters are located at 1366 May Farm Road, Barton VT 05822.
